Do you run an online store, write a blog, or maybe you have a blog on the website of an online store? For sure you have heard the word keywords – do you know what keywords are and what they will be useful to you in business?
Searching for information has never been as easy as it is nowadays, but in the multitude of online content, it is becoming more difficult to find those that perfectly answer our questions. Creating new content, especially for business, must respond to the needs of customers, so it is important that the texts contain keywords such as the product name or described place or service. Probably now you are wondering what a keyword is?
What are keywords?
Keywords are one of the basic values for SEO (search engine optimization), i.e. optimizations of websites for search engines – keywords are typed by users in the search engine window. Keywords indicate the search engine on which pages the phrases searched by us are located and allow the script to find the content that should be displayed for a given query.
Keywords can be one word, but they can also be a group of two or three words, so it is so important that when writing texts or choosing keywords to the product name, metadata of product page or to the content of an article incorporate phrases that clearly specify what is the purpose of product or what is the article about. A common mistake is to focus on one word, which can define several things – not necessarily the one we want to be visible on in the web, such a mistake can be seen in trees of the category of online stores. An example a category: bridge means building, game or (dental) bridge, so it is good to specify what we sell (e.g. "bridge cards", "dental bridge", "bridge projects"), so that our website reaches people interested in playing cards or wanting to fill the gaps in the teeth, because building lovers by typing the keyword "bridge" in a search engine may not look for cards or dental bridge.
What are long-tail keywords?
Keywords can also consist of more words, so called long-tail keywords. Search engine users more often enter long questions such as "how to choose keywords?" – This trend is related to the increasing amount of information available on the Internet and a growing need to search for specific data. Long-tail keywords may turn out to be useful especially for online stores with a large number of products, when the buyer is looking for a specific capacity, size or function. For example, a bathroom furnishings store with hundreds of washbasins, but the customer is looking for a specific model, so it is advisable to include in the product name a few important information that will make it easier for the customer to find our store through a search engine, such as the manufacturer of a round table top washbasin series of 40 cm. In most online stores filters of products are available, so it might seem that this additional information such as the manufacturer, series or shape the customer will find "later", but you have to ask yourself whether it will surely reach our store from the search engine if you do not provide this information in the product name – yet then we will not index to this particular, long group of words.
How to find keywords?
You already know what keywords are and what a long tail is, probably now you are wondering how to find keywords? To find and compare the position of keywords use the keyword tool, i.e. tools for keywords.
Keyword tools allow you to obtain some valuable information about the phrase you want to position a product, store, blog or website, such as the number of monthly searches, competitiveness, the most frequently typed words / phrases in the search engine, etc. Keyword tools provide us with suggestions as to what our potential customers or recipients of articles written by us can look for, so it is worth taking advantage of their potential and check the popularity of word, phrase or long-tail keyword, on which we want to position.
